This Ostrich Steak Sandwich with avocado sauce, caramelized onions and a roasted red pepper is the perfect combination for a satisfying and delicious meal.

    Ingredients

    -1 Ostrich steak

    -1 onion

    -1 roasted red pepper

    -3 tbsps of Worcestershire sauce

-1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar

    -1 tbsp of minced garlic

    -1 tbsp of avocado oil

    Steak Seasoning

    -1 tsp of garlic powder

    -1 tsp of onion powder

    -2 tsp of thyme

-1 tsp of salt and pepper

    Avocado sauce

    -1/2 cup of spinach

    -1/3 cup of fresh parsley

    -1/2 avocado

    -1 clove of garlic

    -1/3 cup of almonds

    -2 tbsp of olive oil

-1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar

    -1 tsp of onion powder

    -1/2 tsp of salt

    – 1 tbsp of nutritional yeast

    Directions

    1. Using a small mixing bowl, add in your spinach and parsley.
    2. Next cut your avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the avocado flesh into a bowl.
    3. Add the garlic, almonds, seasoning, oil and vinegar.
    4. Using a hand held mixer, mix until smooth.
    5. Taste the sauce and season with salt and pepper to your liking.
    6. To make the caramelized onions, heat a large skillet over medium heat and some oil.
    7. Once oil is hot, add the sliced onions, Winstershester sauce, garlic, and apple cider vinegar.
    8. Stir the onions occasionally, and cook them until they are soft and translucent, this should take about 10-15 minutes.
    9. Reduce the heat to low and continue cooking the onions for an additional 30-40 minutes, or until they are golden brown and caramelized. Be sure to stir the onions occasionally to prevent them from burning.
    10. Now to cook the steak. Combine all the steak seasoning together and then season your steak beforehand to add flavour.
    11. Place your steak on a skillet to high heat and add a little oil.
    12. Cook the steak for 3-5 minutes per side depending on your liking. Note that ostrich meat is leaner than beef and it is less forgiving when it comes to overcooking, so be careful not to overcook the steak or it may become dry.
    13. Once the steak is cooked to your liking, remove it from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
    14. Now to make the sandwich. Using gluten free bread, first spread your avocado sauce onto your bread. Place your steak on top and add your roasted red pepper and caramelized onions.
    15. Serve and enjoy!
